Creating Your Future Job Moreton Bay

A 7 week self-employment program for local youth aged 15 to 21 years.

About the 2024 Program.

Creating Your Future Job Moreton Bay is a 7 week self-employment program for local youth living in the Moreton Bay Region. During the program, participants will identify a local problem or market need and brainstorm a micro-business solution to make an income. Self-employment offers a viable and flexible career path for young people, putting them in control of their own futures and allowing them to create jobs based on their areas of interest or passion.

We bring experienced facilitators, engaging content and all the necessary materials to deliver the program at your school or venue. All we need from you is a group of students and a suitable classroom environment. Each workshop can accommodate a
maximum of 10 students - teachers are strongly encouraged to nominate their disengaged and or disadvantaged youth.

Program Phases.

The core program is run over a 7 week period (half day or full school day per week required).

  • Phase A - Introduction: Program facilitators build authentic relationships with participants, helping them explore their passions and interests while teaching basic business principles and public speaking skills.

  • Phase B - Skills Development & Group Business: Participants learn essential communication skills, such as public speaking and negotiation, while working in teams to plan and execute a group business for their local community, gaining valuable experience in customer service, business management, delegation and teamwork.

  • Phase C - Ideation & Business Creation: Through an ideation process, participants identify problems, create business and marketing plans, develop product prototypes, and learn practical skills like e-commerce and social media marketing to turn their ideas into profitable micro-businesses, earning micro-credential certificates in Marketing, HR, and Financial Literacy.

  • Phase D - Becoming a CEO: Participants receive training in sales techniques and have the opportunity to test their products/services with real customers, preparing marketing materials, pricing strategies, and customer service experiences to successfully launch their businesses, generating actual revenue and income through selling products and delivering services to the wider community.

The students have all grown so much in confidence and gained so many new skills. Plus, they've had a stack of fun and learnt so much. [The Facilitator] was great and understanding of different learning styles and so patient and caring. Please come back next year! Please!"
